10/11/17 AMIR JAVASOUL – North America’s best kept secret comes to Housepitality & Aftertouch

Posted by solprovider - October 3, 2017 - Events

The second week of October 2017 is quite special for us because we have one of the best underground selectors in North America coming to rock the Housepit. Yes, we are going as far as saying this because its true even though he is somehow not a household name despite his incredible dj background. Amir Javasoul is from Montreal and can be found busy amongst the best lineups in some of the most prestigious events in the world often part of exclusive small line ups along side massive names like Prosumer, Lee Burridge, Rahdoo, Matt Tolfrey, Ricardo Villalobos and many others. In fact he’s been known to play b2b with Ricardo like the epic set they did together at Sunwaves:

Amir and Ricardo b2b at Sunwaves

The diversity in that list pretty much says it all. Based on looking at his past and current tour schedules we are obviously not the only ones who recognize his talent BUT we have the EXTRA special privilege to have him all to ourselves as our headliner on this night.

The best part for us are his main musical inspirations: Derrick Carter, DJ Harvey and Ricardo Villalobos — a combination that doesn’t get any better for a Housepitality headliner. This is a recipe for reaching higher dance floor dimensions. These days Amir is personally supported by both Ricardo and Derrick as their friendship has grown over the years. Amir recently became part of the same exclusive agency that manages Ricardo too. He releases tracks with Daniel Maher as Creatures of Habit and others including work he’s done with Ricardo at his studio. He’s released a Fabric mix and a very deep XLR8R podcast in 2017. Peep this one too:)

This booking was inspired by our friend Luis Delgado aka Louiv of Aftertouch SF who will also be celebrating his birthday that same night by dropping the opening set. Its pretty real, Luis is from Mexico and he shares the same taste in tuckered up beats as we do. We’ve been geeking out on this lately. He and his partner Dejan have been throwing various undergrounds and other events at Public Works pushing a deeper sound than the usual SF lineups which we love. Amir Javasoul is a great intersect for us to do together. In fact, I found this vinyl mix by Amir called Ricardo vs Derrick and its pretty unique.. peep:

Our very own MIKE BEE will be rocking the lounge on this night.. WE ARE EXCITED:) SEE YOU THERE FOR THIS SPECIAL NIGHT OF UNDERGROUND DANCE MUSIC.

A native of Tehran, AMIR JAVASOUL began DJing after being inspired by the style and productions of Chicago house legend Derrick Carter. Following his beginnings in the Montreal rave scene, he soon began playing parties and refining his skills, paving the way for the next chapter. Moving to Paris in 2001, Amir would hold residencies at many of the clubs in the city: Queen, Studio 287, Terassa, RedLight as well as PlastikPeople. He would go on to tour throughout Europe and North America and play venues such as The End, Ministry of Sound London, Pacha Ibiza, Crystal Istanbul, Boa Toronto or Cafe d’Anvers.

Aside from being heavily influenced by Chicago house, Amir’s musical taste has also been shaped by DJ Harvey as well as Ricardo Villalobos. He developed his own unique style of mixing house and techno.

Since returning to Montreal in 2011, Amir has kept up a busy schedule playing or holding residencies at most of the city’s main venues. Highlights include Stereo Montreal, Piknic Electronik, Igloofest closing 2014 alongside Adam Beyer and sharing the decks with Fabric London’s Craig Richards during the 2014 Piknic season.

Amir had his Fabric London Room 1 debut on January 2015, playing alongside Ricardo Villalobos and Craig Richards, a career highlight. He was back in Room 1 in April of the same year, sharing the decks alongside longtime friends Apollonia.

On the production front, Amir, alongside his friend and studio partner Maher Daniel are known as Creatures Of Habit. Expect some new and exciting projects this year, with an upcoming EP released in December 2016.

2017 is off to a flying start, with Amir’s debut at Sunwaves 21, playing a 13hrs set alongside Ricardo Villalobos followed by Fabric London the following weekend.

Amir currently resides between Berlin and Montreal
