Franklin De Costa’s Bio –
Franklin De Costa’s first releases were way back in 1996 on his own label Fusion Records (w/ 303 Nation Member, Patrick Vauillaume). Under his Tichy moniker Franklin released various EPs on Frankfurt techno labels until the end of the 90s. His search for inspiration brought him to a very experimental production phase without the “4 to the floor“ preset. From this he developed his distinctive trademark sound with straight grooves and frisky sound design.
Now concentrating on DJing and organising parties, Franklin began the extroverted phase of the studio nerd. In 2003 he started working with Yapacc and founded the Studiogemeinschaft project. Along with the infamous Frankfurt DJs Bo Irion and Miriam Schulte they started “The Green Empire” events in Frankfurt. Meanwhile, Franklin was gaining more international recognition with releases on well-known labels such as Trapez ltd, Karmarouge Noir, Einmaleins Musik and Treibstoff. His singles entered the charts of djs worldwide. With over 15 years of Techno on his shoulders and touring around the world, Franklin still lightheartedly follows his funky vision of dancefloor deepness. Franklin is now also exploring the field of live performances alongside his djsets.
2010 lead to the creation of two new side projects, DCNT and Mudkid, as well as releases under his birth name on Curle Music, Connaisseur, Hypercolour and others. He also did remixes for producers like Holger Zilske, Kris Wadsworth and René Breitbarth. His last EP of the year, ‘Fragile EP’ on Curle received a lot of success and recognition and Franklin once again demonstrated his signature production style with this groovy, deep, jazzy and at times dark release.
The new decade began with a track on The Prism compilation released on the German minimal/ techno label Sonata Music. At the moment Franklin is juggling quite a list of projects that are scheduled to be released in the very near future!
