CHUCK HAMPTON aka Gay Marvine (description by Miguel Solari):
Anyone who experienced the very beginnings of the house techno scene around the Ann Arbor/ Detroit area is familiar with the name Chuck Hampton. He was like our local Derrick Carter, never missed a step and kept the bodies moving. I can’t describe how many people have said to me.. “dood, you should have Chuck Hampton” and yes, I agree, damn, we should have Chuck Hampton because he guarantees a rocking set. I mentioned to Recloose last week that I had Chuck coming in two weeks and he said “yes, perfect booking. He as been killing it releasing underground edits as Gay Marvine”. Chuck is NOT a stranger to SF, he has played for Honey Soundsystem a couple times under Gay Marvine which is why it makes sense that Honey Soundsystem’s Jacob Sperber will be doing the opening honors. Yes, Chuck in many people’s mind is a bit of an old school legend but its not like he disappeared, he has just been rocking under a different name. If it means anything to you that Richie Hawtin himself used to personally book Chuck Hampton for his parties then there you go, enough said.. unless you also want to add names like Stacey Pullen, Derrick May, Juan.. they will all tell you, Chuck Hampton is DOPE! Chuck is a house dj’s dj and you should not miss an experience enjoyed and recommended by some of the best in the industry..
NOW, Chuck’s official BIO:
Chuck Hampton has been a DJ in the Detroit undergound scene since ’92. Personally picked by Richie Hawtin to play at several of his parties, Chuck has appeared on bills with Derrick May, Juan Atkins, DWynn, Stacey Pullen, and many noted others. He was the resident DJ for the now legendary Friday nights in the basement of the Nectarine Ballroom (the club where Jeff Mills got his start) throughout the 90’s and early 2000’s. He’s been a guest DJ for several of the Macho City parties as well as the Menergy party. He is honored to have played the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (Movement). Known for his enthusiactic, intense and diverse sets that span genres and decades, Chuck is now an accomplished remixer and editor under the guise of “Gay Marvine” on the Detroit based labels “Secret Mixes Fixes” and “Bath House Etiquette”. House, Acid, Techno, Disco, New Wave, Industrial, Hi-NRG and even Classic Rock have all been known to make their ways into Chuck’s sets. His focus is always on the dance floor. For this special set, Chuck will be focusing on his favorite House tracks…

P-Play Bio:
P-Play is most notably the co-founder of San Francisco’s DJ Crew Honey Soundsystem. Roughing it as a disc-jockey in the U.S. and Internationally since he was 18 years old, the now 26 year old has built a reputation for pushing underground house/techno sounds back into the gay dance music scene.
As a promoter he has been changing the landscape of club life in San Francsico. As a label head he has formed the in-house label for Honey Soundsystem “HNYTRX” and the elusive new Discaire Records. Recently P-Play banded a group of musicians together to form a “supergorup” called LUTHER which in 2012 has hijacked the extreme leather fetish party circuit to stage elaborate “4-turntable” house-techno-disco sets and dirty underground after-hours.
P-Play has headlined Horse Meat Disco (London), A Club Called Rhonda (Los Angeles), Disco Bloodbath (London), Tape Club (Berlin), Vandam (NYC), Holocene (Portland, OR), Forte Predestino (Rome). His remix work with Jason Kendig has been released on OM Records, Ecstacy Label, 3rd Strike, and RVNG.

In February 2011, Sergio went over to Allen’s house. They had met briefly through a mutual friend at Sergio’s Go BANG! Disco party, bonding over stories of their days at UC Berkeley, Sergio being a big fanboy of Allen’s Yerba Buena Discos house label, and the love of Disco. They had agreed to edit one song, but on the BART ride over to Allen’s house, Sergio was listening to Sylvester’s “Fever.” He showed up, they heard it, they loved it, they edited it! http://soundcloud.com/sergioaudio/sylvester-fever-sergio-allen This became a fan favorite; their love letter to the San Francisco Bay Area and all that Sylvester represents. This set the tone for their Disco Edits and House Originals: From the Heart, From the Soul, Made with Love. And made whilst eating peanut butter cups. [:)] They are proud to release each song, which always has a personal connection to them and, in turn, to the listener and dancer. They are excited to share even more of their art, and their hearts, with YOU.
