HOUSEPITALITY w/ TIM XAVIER, Jamaica Suk, Keith Kraft & Dj Sep

( ( ( ( (H O U S E P I T A L I T Y) ) ) ) ) is proud to bring one of the most influential names in American dance music to our discerning audience, a welcome-home set from an SF star who’s been in Berlin, and a Groove Lounge set from SF’s reggae/dub hero:

::TIM XAVIER (LTD400, Clink | USA/Berlin)::
::JAMAICA SUK (Touch of Class, Coal | SF/Berlin)::
::KEITH KRAFT (BASE, Reload, Monroe | SF)::

Groove Lounge:

::DJ SEP (Dub Mission | San Francisco)::

For many reasons, Berlin has become the Mecca of underground house and techno music.

To make it or to become even slightly successful these days, it’s generally understood that a temporary pilgrimage (if not a permanent move) to Berlin is in order. Our headliner Tim Xavier and our second-billed star, Ms. Suk, clearly understand this fact.

Tim Xavier, though he began his life and career in Houston, TX, moved from that area through several other electronic music hotspots (Chicago, NYC), before finally settling in a place where his musical talents could take root and flourish: Berlin. Having worked with, and had his music released and charted by just about every DJ and label of note, Tim Xavier has long reached legendary status, releasing music on his imprint LTD400, and partnering with Camea to release music on her label Clink Recordings.

Joining Tim on this visit back from Berlin, an SF local who has gone on to Berlin in order to further her own musical career: Jamaica Suk. Jamaica is a well-known figure in SF’s underground scene, known perhaps better for her live music and production skills than for her DJing, but her recent time in Berlin has steeped her in that city’s well-known immersive music culture, and her DJing and recent productions (with Tim Xavier & otherwise) are evidence that she is a musical force to be reckoned with on the international stage. We are so excited to welcome her back!

Opening up our main room, a local force to be reckoned with, Mr. Keith Kraft. Keith’s played for us a handful of times, always bringing a tight, techy-yet-deep house vibe, and an energy that can’t be beat. Make sure to arrive early and support this pillar of our local house community.

In the back room, we are very pleased to once again host DJ SEP, the host of the longest-running reggae, dub, and dancehall weekly in SF: Dub Mission. Her knowledge of island-influenced dance music is second-to-none, and almost no one in town has done as much as she has to spread the message of non-commercial reggae, dub and dancehall music. We thoroughly enjoyed her last set for us, and are very happy to welcome her back. BOOM.

Tim Xavier

Tim Xavier’s passion for music has kept him on the forefront of techno since his innovative releases on Blueline in Chicago a decade ago. His career began in Houston in the 90s, and then on to Chicago, Brooklyn and now Berlin, where he has resided since 2007. He is a veteran to the industry; and his dark, edgy production style has remained uncompromised through the ever changing genres of techno and house. He is also the owner and chief engineer at Manmade Mastering in Berlin; and this sleepy-eyed coffee addict defines cool as he cuts master plates for many respected record labels.

Tim’s music has been charted and played by leading artists around the world, and he has worked with many labels such as Cocoon, Minus, Sci-Tec, Podium, Timefog, Little Helpers, Sleaze, Droid Behavior and many more. He is also the owner of his own imprint, LTD400, which encompasses his irresistible combination of quirk, funk, space and drive. Tim spray-paints his signature icon on 400 sleeves of each release, a process that he says connects him more closely to his music and audience. He also works with partner Camea on her imprint Clink Recordings, with Tony Rohr as the ‘Afternoon Coffee Boys’.

On Stage, Tim’s current performances include a mixture of DJing, Live and Effects manipulation, carrying out his visionas he sees fit. He creates a unique experience with his maximal sound quality and music selection, in which he combines loops and pieces from his own production. He is regularly on tour and performing across the globe, capturing his audiences with his signature sound. Tim’s relentless devotion to providing cutting edge audio continues to keep him on the forefront of innovative dance music, and as he continues to grow it is apparent that we have still yet to see the best of his work.

Jamaica Suk

Generationally Korean- and California native: Jamaica Suk, grew up musically inclined, largely influenced by her non-traditional family structure and musical grandfather. Jamming from an early age, with math rock- instrumental and shoegaze bands, she eventually found herself four to the floor with San Francisco’s underground electronic music scene.

A degree in audio engineering, residencies at US venues, and a trip to Berlin later: she made Zur Wilde Renate her studio home. Here: Suk switched the focus to electronic music production, and began writing the deep dance bass lines and moody instrumental harmonies that now identify her sound. She finds influence in techno contemporaries such as Donato Dozzy, Mike Dehnert, Jonas Kopp, and Conforce, and has collaborated on releases with artists such as Tim Xavier, Michael Tello, Signal Flow, and Aquarius Heaven.

Suk’s forthcoming driving and darker EP entitled ‘Embers ’ is soon to be released on Coal, and will be available for purchase on Beatport.

Keith Kraft

Keith Kraft grew up in south FL and has been a music enthusiast since he was a young child earning his first chin scar from spinning out dancing to Michael Jackson on his parents tile floor at the age 4. That was only the beginning of a passion that would only turn into his life. A classically trained musician, he took on a great interest in playing brass instruments at a young age and specialized in the trumpet until his other passion(stunt BMX) got in the way and after an accident his nerves in his lip were severed leaving them damaged and unable to produce notes through a brass mouthpiece.

Frustrated he took a break from playing instruments and focused his energy on school where he studied Aerospace engineering, Music Theory, and psychology. Years later he became well known in the South FL club scene for hosting several parties in Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

After moving to San Francisco at age 27 and becoming heavily involved in the house music scene he took on an interest in DJ’ing. He started off in his downtown apartment with two techniques 1200’s and an Allen & Heath mixer and after 8 months with help from mentors(Derek Bobus, Nikita, and Sharon Buck) Keith began playing out at nightclubs. A few months later he landed a gig opening for Jamie Jones at Vessel which gave him the confidence to push it even further.

He has been resident for parties such as “Bad Habits @ Monroe” and “Housepitality @ Icon” in SF and now has began producing his own events “SEX” and “Pressure @ Monroe” with Nikita.
Keith is know for his deep house, tech house, and techno music and always brings it with fresh new tracks.
