Arriving in Colombia only five years ago, Venezuelan DJ and producer Enrique León has wasted little time in shaking up the Bogota scene. León helped open Video Club in 2016 — perched in the Chapinero neighborhood, the club’s understated interior, Funktion One sound, and international lineups make it a favorite of locals and tourists alike. As a booker, he brings in artists who might otherwise never make it to Colombia, helping to expand the sounds available to Bogotano audiences. As a DJ and producer, known as Leeon or ELO to his fans, he favors darker, bass-forward house and techno with trippy acid patterns — those sounds also inform his recently launched Ediciones Danza Negra label.
Fil Latorre is a San Francisco-based DJ, producer, and promoter who has been on the electronic music scene since 1993. Less than a year after stepping behind the turntables, he won the first annual “Battle of the DJs” competition at the legendary Fever party in Baltimore, Maryland – A contest that judged DJ’s on music selection, mixing ability, and crowd response. Since then, he has played at events throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and South America. Not pinning himself to one distinct style, when Fil plays a set, he sifts through a mosaic of musical influences to create a genre-bending, deep techno and house sound. Fil is the co-founder of Washington D.C.’s Dirty Crew, as well as San Francisco’s acclaimed Saturday night weekly party, Staple, which brought in world renowned talent from all over the world on a weekly basis – something that was unprecedented at the time.
