We at Housepitality think it’s important to be community-minded, and we feel that everyone in our scene will benefit by exposure to all that our region has to offer; with that in mind, we like to share our night and mix our audience, with the goal of exposing everyone to folks they haven’t met, music they haven’t heard, and especially house music they haven’t danced to (yet).
With that in mind, for this edition of Housepitality, we lend our night to SF’s house music behemoth artist collective, theme camp, sound camp, and band of troublemakers: Pink Mammoth. They’re an SF institution, providing beats, fun, and pink mayhem to the folks lucky enough to be exposed to their soundsystem (and their mischief). Those who have danced on by their soundsystem at BM, will have experienced their passion for great dance music, and providing it in a way that benefits the community. We’re honored to share our night with these gentle hooligans…. it’s time for a Pink Mammoth takeover.
In the back, fresh off the opening of his new, brick-and-mortar storefront for selling dance music vinyl, Mr. Mike Bee will be showcasing his talents in providing the best that slower-bpm dance music has to offer, with disco, funk, slower house, and the Balearic music that he can showcase so well… come by, hear him blow us away once more, and find out whether you can find the delicious tracks at his awesome new record store: Vinyl Dreams. Pink Mammoth
Pink Mammoth is a San Francisco-based not-for-profit artist collective, founded by Ryel K and Derek Hena in August, 2003. It is based partially on the philosophy of Burning Man, a radically expressive festival held annually in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada, and dedicated to unconditional self-support and free expression. It also draws influence from the Buddhist concept of the Boddhisattva, a being dedicated to enabling, supporting, and encouraging others to reach their ultimate state of enlightenment.
The organization has maintained active residencies San Francisco, including 4th Thursdays at The EndUp, and has performed at other significant San Francisco dance music venues including 111 Minna, Supperclub, Mezzanine, Mighty, Shine, and Pink. These highlight the organization’s heavy emphasis on community and expressive celebration by showcasing and promoting its own artist-participants, including DJs, percussionists, vocalists, live event artists, fabric designers, and graphic artists.
Pink Mammoth also participates in Burning Man, the Love Parade/Lovefest, and the Hawaii Electronic Music Festival. Its participants have represented the collective in Japan, New Zealand, and throughout the United States.

Mike Bee
Mike has been a pro DJ for going on 20 years. Former music journalist (XLR8R, Urb, SF Bay Guardian), club promoter (La Belle Epoque, Bottom Heavy, Safe, Future Shock – all SF), label owner (True Intent) and buyer for Amoeba SF’s electronic music section for 6 years (13 at Amoeba total). Mike now operates a record store called Vinyl Dreams (in the Lower Haight district of SF), (www.vinyldreams.us), and is a resident of Housepitality.
