San Francisco transplant and now LA local, Travis “TK DISKO” is one half of the LA production duo, Split Secs (Kompakt, Throne Of Blood, Jolly Jams) as well as a founding member of DJ and production collective 40 Thieves (Leng/Rong Music/Permanent Vacation). He cut his teeth as a mainstay in the early 90’s SF music scene where he began DJing at age 17 in venues like the now infamous Trocadero, DV8, King Street Garage and The Top as well as the Bulletproof and Sunset Sound System events. He’s one of few local SF jocks invited to guest DJ the legendary Wicked parties and he held court as resident warm-up for the one and only DJ Harvey at Rx Gallery during the early 2000’s.
Travis brings a deep knowledge of and respect for music to his gigs, a real selector in the classic sense. Drawing on disparate influences scattered across decades and continents, the guy has an uncanny ability to spin together a sonic Frankenstein able to mop up any dancefloor. He makes the new sound old and the old sound new. Never lazy, always evolving, he’ll have your girlfriend dancing on tables or your boyfriend trainspotting from behind the booth.
Over the last 20 something years Travis has played alongside some of dance music’s greatest jocks, from Jeff Mills and Optimo to the Idjut Boys, Maurice Fulton, Metro Area, Prins Thomas, A Man Called Adam, Trevor Jackson, the list goes on..
Today, in addition to running the Machine Limited label and throwing one of LA’s sweatiest jams, Machine, (alongside Split Secs partner Alexandre (SONNS), you can hear him play out at any number of LA’s best parties including Doc Martin’s Sublevel, Making Shapes and A Club Called Rhonda.
